Unleash your creativity with a few buckeyes and some string!

Even though you cannot eat buckeye nuts, they are popular for crafting. Whether you are a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, want a lucky talisman to wear, or simply enjoy chunky accessories, buckeyes are the perfect item for crafting a necklace or bracelet.
Tools & Supplies
- Buckeye nuts. (Get yours at our farm stand now!)
- Cord or string
- Drill with 1/16th inch bit, or a hammer and a very sharp nail
- Optional: Large-eye needle
- Options: Beads and charms
- Optional: Matte or glossy acrylic sealant to make your buckeyes last longer.
Instructions
- To help your natural buckeyes last longer, spray them lightly with matte or glossy sealant and let dry.
- Hold a buckeye nut securely. Using a vice or clamp is best, but you can hold it with your fingers if you are VERY CAREFUL.
- CAREFULLY drill / hammer through the center of the buckeye. Repeat for each buckeye.
- Thread the buckeyes onto the cord or string, adding beads and/or charms if you wish. A large-eye needle might make this task easier.
- Cut the cord or string a few inches longer than needed and tie the ends together in a knot.
Inspiration
- String a single buckeye onto a thin strip of leather.
- Center three buckeyes on your necklace, separated by sparkly beads.
